30 day challenge: Day 1.....Let me introduce myself..............

For as long as I can remember I have liked my name for the simple fact that it was uncommon.....ARLENE but for those who are in my family only you can call me "lene". Growing up my family was very unconventional but that is what made it interesting. I am the oldest of 4 sisters and 2 brothers and yes, I am perfect for the role of the eldest. I am 33 years old and starting to experience gray hair (insert eye rolling here)! Much appreciation to whoever invented hair color because women around the world owe you their lives. As each birthday passes I grow more and more comfortable in my own skin...so bring on 34!

Now let's step back in time for a minute....

In 1998 I gave birth to twin girls who were extremely premature. Nothing prepares you for a premature child and even more so when there are 2. Spending 210 days in the NICU was an emotional rollercoaster. You never know how much you can handle until you have been through something that heartwrenching. Keeping faith is what got us through all of those moments and by the grace of God he kept my children safe and they were able to come home. From that moment on those 2 girls have thrived.

Jason and I met online in a AOL chat room, talk about new age dating! LOL! We couldn't be more opposite in what we like, believe, dislike etc but it works for us. Jason is so laid back and I take on the stress of the family. He is quiet and I am chatty. I am not a picky eater and Jason is unbelievably picky. We joke around a lot and that is our common bond. Our love is not a fairytale but that is why I like it, it is REALISTIC.

There is so much more to me and hopefully through this blog you will come to know more. For instance, did you know that I am obsessed with anything zebra print?? I appreciate the time you take to read this and look forward to all the entries to come.

Until then.....

  1. I love it! I still can't believe you're going to be 34. You don't seem like it to me. As for the girls...I couldn't be more proud of how they've turned out. It makes me laugh too at you and Jason meeting on AOL because I met Mathew on FB. It's funny how the internet brings people together!
